Motorcyclist Killed on U.S. 220

A Martinsville resident was killed Tuesday morning when the motorcycle he was riding was struck by a car on U.S. 220 south of Martinsville.

Drew M. Thomson, 58, was riding southbound on U.S. 220 just north of Route 966 on his 2009 Harley Davidson Fat Boy Motorcycle when a car pulled out of the Big Lots parking lot and collided with his cycle.

Thomson, who died at the scene, was wearing a helmet, according to Virginia State Police.
